JEN CHAPMAN


Jen qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2012, after a career in social work and youth work. In many ways she see’s Personal Training as an extension of these skills - the basis is to guide & support people to create change and see goals through, some of which can be life altering for her clients. As well as the physical benefits of exercise, Jen is particularly interested in the positive effects that regular exercise has on mental health and wellbeing. This stems from Jens own experience of how her gym-based training has helped support her through some of her own challenges.


Drawing from a wide knowledge base of yoga, cross-fit, weight training, powerlifting, mobility and all things functional, Jen can design a training plan to suit a variety of bodies and goals. She aims to include functional movements that translate to real life activities, and takes a keen focus on the fundamentals of strength work which often includes plenty of core and glute stabilising work as well as technique coaching and modification. Body awareness is something that is also important to Jen, as are the aspects of enjoyability and fun for her clients. She believes that the best fitness program is the one that a client actually does, so she works with her clients to create a program that they’ll adhere to.


Jen is particularly passionate about sports specific programming and has worked with a number of athletes in their pre and post seasons of training; such as skiers, volleyball players, yogi’s, runners, triathletes, surfers and of course, weekend warriors. Jen’s warmth & encouraging manner combined with her technique-focussed coaching style means that she is particularly suited to anyone new to the gym.

  • Competing in Novice PowerLifting Competitions

  • Representing & raising funds for Youthline in the Corporate Boxing Match “Fight For Life” (and receiving a bloody nose in round two of the fight!)

  • Working at the international Yoga Festival, Wanderlust, both in NZ and Australia.

  • Attending international yoga trainings and worships whilst traveling through Bali, Europe & South America.

  • Meeting her sponsor child, Ana Beatriz in Recife, Brazil in 2017.

  • Daily proud moments of being mum to her precious fur baby, Sachi the staffy, who is frequently seen atKoha as our unofficial gym dog.

  • Learning to manage and heal the effects of her own health challenges through body awareness, healthylifestyle, yoga and fitness
